Tucked away down an unassuming side street in the centre of Bristol, you’ll find Centrespace Studios and Gallery, home to The Letterpress Collective. Founded by Nick Hand, the collective is the printshop of The Department of Small Works, a home for design, photography and print.
Formerly a graphic designer, Nick entered the world of the letterpress through a desire to preserve and promote the joys of this traditional, hands-on printing method.

Nick’s passion for the arts is evident, and The Letterpress Collective pays homage to craftsmanship and slow living. The mindful, meditative nature of hand-setting type and letterpress printing encourages a slower, more considered pace - an antidote to the increasingly digital world we live in.
A celebration of traditional printing, The Letterpress Collective is a quiet reminder of the joys to be found in slowing down and crafting by hand.
