Studio Rey Takes Contemporary Character to the Countryside
“That's the end goal for what I do, really - is to elevate the everyday for my client”
Grace King, founder of Bristol-based Studio Rey, takes us through her recently completed project in Wellow. A few things immediately stand out in this four-bedroom home, all working together to create a calm, balanced space full of personality.
The sweeping views across the Somerset hills are, of course, a central feature throughout the home. The contrast between the stillness of the countryside and the contemporary interiors creates a sense of serenity while keeping the space grounded and inviting.
Central to the design is a consistent colour thread that runs throughout the home. Deep teal tones and pops of bright yellow appear repeatedly, complementing one another and bringing cohesion to the overall scheme. Yet each room retains its own distinct identity through the thoughtful use of materials, furnishings and carefully considered details that add warmth and character.
For Grace, the focus is always on how her clients feel within a space and how it supports their everyday lives. The result is a home that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
