As a popular pocket at the top of Greenbank, Camelford Road drew the attention of homeowners Jim and Angela when they were looking to purchase a "fixer-upper" back in 2015. The couple were craving more space and a renovation project they could put their own stamp on.
Transforming a Rental into a Dream Home
"It was a whirlwind first year, as my wife gave birth to twins the week after we purchased the property," recalls Jim, a local builder and developer. They wasted no time and set about making the place as habitable as possible, followed by additional works such as rewiring, installing a new boiler, new radiators, insulating the loft, installing a new roof, and completely redecorating throughout.
"It's a great space we can all spend time together in. I can be cooking, and we can still be interacting as a family."
A Family Haven: The Delights of a Four-Bedroom Gem
The spacious four-bedroom house benefits from plenty of natural light, featuring double bay windows at the front and timber bi-folding doors leading out to a west-facing rear garden. However, the most impressive aspect of this family home is the open-plan kitchen-diner, where Jim enthuses, "It's a great space we can all spend time together in. I can be cooking, and we can still be interacting as a family." The front living room, though, holds a special place in Jim's heart as a cozy retreat for him and Angela after the kids are in bed.

Greenbank is renowned for its local shops, pubs, and independent cafés, making it an attractive area for Jim and Angela. The Greenbank pub sealed the deal for them, and they enjoy exploring the culinary delights of eateries like Este Kitchen and the exotic offerings of Bristol Sweet Mart. With the upcoming Chocolate Factory development nearby, they regretfully won't witness the exciting growth of more businesses, apartments, and amenities in the area.
A Bittersweet Farewell to Greenbank's Community
"We've never lived anywhere with such a great sense of community as Greenbank," says Jim. They cherish their connections with neighbours and the convenience of a fantastic school just around the corner. The allure of Bristol city centre and the tranquility of their own corner of Greenbank, where the quiet one-way street gives an illusion of countryside living, will be sorely missed.
