Artistic Impressions
Sitting in the tranquil, tropical garden at Seymour Road in Bishopston, you wouldn’t know you are just a short walk from bustling Gloucester Road. We meet with homeowner, Chloe, a freelance photographer and videographer to chat through her time at her stylish two-bedroom apartment.
“I’ve lived in a few places across Bristol, but always had this pull towards the north of the water, and Gloucester Road is unlike any other high street in the city”, explains Chloe.
“Working full time as a photographer and filmmaker means that my hours can be a little all over the place, but I always try to enjoy the fruits of the local area. It’s such an awesome neighbourhood, and I’ve seen it evolve even in the short period of time I’ve been here. FED303 is a firm favourite of mine, not just for the coffee, but the gorgeous interiors too! Burra has also just opened up a little further up Gloucester Road, and it’s already developing a loyal fan base for its unreal baked goods. There are plenty of great aspects to my job, but shooting some of our local independents and their products means I’m constantly discovering, and Bristol isn’t short of creatives!” says Chloe.
“I would say that my style is quite eclectic, but I like to keep it minimal and allow the light to do the talking. It’s the photographer in me! I wanted to create a space that was a little haven for me, inside and out."
Capturing the Essence
With an impressive portfolio under her belt, specialising in food and design photography and filmmaking, Chloe is never short on inspiration.
“Food and drink shoots are always fun, and a bonus is you usually get fed! Some of my favourite shoots have been for the likes of Bristol Gin Distilling Co., Chomp and TME interiors. I love capturing the skills that these businesses and people possess, whether it’s preparing delicious food and cocktails, or stunning unique designs. I’ve experienced chefs creating some beautiful dishes and drinks, and whilst I like the idea of trying the recipes out when I get home, the local restaurants and bars do it way better than I ever could! Meeting so many different people and experiencing so many different events, foods, locations and styles provide so much inspiration for me, and it’s certainly played a part in how I live and how I style my home”, Chloe adds.

I really enjoyed creating a calm, bright sanctuary here, and the garden has become one of my favourite places. It’s so rare to find such a beautiful bright apartment with the added bonus of a private front and rear garden! It’s got a lush green tropical feel, it’s a complete oasis for me when I need an escape from the craziness that everyday life can bring, but it’s also ideal for entertaining throughout the year, where I can show off any recipes I’ve picked up through work, or just order from Jeans Thai!”
