Wild City Studio
"Ecologically focused landscape design and immersive art installations."
"The healing of the land and the healing of the human spirit are the same process"
Masinobou Fukouka
Boardwalk first met Steve Williams at one of his nature-filled projects in Horfield for an article we were writing for our Original Features magazine. His passion for bringing nature back into our Gardens and City's has seen him joining forces with fellow gardener and designer Jon Davies. Their collective ambition and passion creates a forward thinking team, aiming to support an optimistic, culturally led vision for a greener tomorrow.
Wild City Studio have recently won Chelsea Silver Guilt for their 'Centre for Mental Health’s The Balance Garden' at the RHS Chelsea Flower show.
FROM THE DUO
We are passionate about how the natural world and our human built landscapes can co exist in harmony.
In the UK alone 120 million tonnes of materials used in construction become waste. We are inspired to re imagine ways in which rejected and unused building materials can be “rebranded” within the garden without losing out on aesthetic and practicality.
Weathering, rust and the tones and textures of man-made materials have a beauty of their own and support the idea that our built spaces are yet another unique natural environment.
These urban layers can become a fascinating foil for ecology to thrive, a “concrete canvas”; proof of which can be seen throughout the world in our neglected spaces. Embracing these processes and being inspired by them, with a fresh perspective, can lead our urban societies towards a resilient and optimistic future.
